Vanessa shares her love of yoga through thoughtfully crafted classes that are creative and uplifting. Using intelligent cues and mindful adjustments she empowers her students to discover their strong body, calm mind and joyful spirit.
She completed her 200 hour certification with CorePower Yoga, and her 300 hour certification with Awakened Life School of Yoga. She is qualified to teach power vinyasa, slow flow vinyasa, hatha and restorative yoga. She has two years experience teaching corporate classes at Google and studio classes at CorePower Yoga.
Her personal yoga practice is focused on Ashtanga Vinyasa Yoga, created and popularized by Sri K. Pattabhi Jois and his teacher Tirumalai Krishnamacharya who is often referred to as the father of modern yoga. She also regularly practices power vinyasa, hot hatha yoga and restorative yoga.
By combining movement (asana) and breath (pranayama) through her physical practice she seeks to create a space for the other aspects of yoga to manifest in her life – pratyahara, dharana, dhyana and ultimately samadhi.
All my life I had struggled to find a movement practice I could consistently enjoy. Most exercise felt like well designed torture, only to be endured for the promise of an extra guilt free cupcake at the end of the day.
I had no idea what to expect when I stumbled into my first hot yoga class in 2010. It was hard, hot, sweaty and I think I lasted all of 10 minutes. But it was also different, it was deeper.
Throughout class the teacher encouraged me to honor my body. This was a new concept for me – growing up overweight, my body was only for shame, a constant reminder of my physical inadequacy. Yet here was this person who seemed physically perfect in every way encouraging 70 pound overweight me to honor my body.
So I came back again.
Before I knew if I had been coming for a month consistently, and with constant encouragement I even dared to do the unthinkable – to try and honor my body.
Those 90 minutes became my sanctuary, a place where I could almost believe it was possible to be happy in my skin. Almost belief grew into faith, and once my mind transformed my body soon began to follow.
Since then yoga has been a constant companion in my life. I completed my 200 hour teacher training in April 2016 and have been teaching since July 2016.
Every time I step into the studio I feel blessed to share yoga, a practice that has transformed every aspect of my life. And to humbly share what my first teacher taught me – honor your body.

I teach a weekly class at Google in Orange County. The class is specifically crafted for office workers to help relieve stress, increase flexibility and build strength and stamina.
